ABOUT ZIM

Zim Ugochukwu is the Founder of Travel Noire.

Travel Noire was founded with one lofty goal in mind: to make international travel more inclusive and representative for explorers of color, in turn, inspiring them to frequently explore new destinations.

By circumventing traditional channels, sourcing breathtaking images of travelers of color, crafting original, authentic content, building digital communities and artisanal international experiences, Travel Noire is reframing the story of the international traveler. And it’s a bit rebellious.

With explosive growth over the past two years, Travel Noire has sold out of every product they’ve brought to market, building a legion of loyal followers and customers along the way.

Prior to Travel Noire, Zim has over 9 years of cross-sectoral leadership experience, leading and managing multidisciplinary domestic & international teams and strategizing million dollar funding campaigns in a wide variety of fields.

At 19 years old, she cloned a gene with similarities to a genetic disorder and became the youngest precinct judge for the state of North Carolina. Her love for solving tough problems and her knack for building communities on and offline has led her to critical acclaim.

This Forbes 30 under 30 awardee has been featured in the New York Times, TIME, CBS This Morning, ELLE, The Nation, Essence, NPR, among others and was awarded by Glamour Magazine as one of 25 Young Women Changing the World. Most recently, Travel Noire was named one of the Most Innovative Companies in the World by Fast Company. With a vision almost as grand as the world we live in, Zim is dedicated to creating long lasting change by using technology to empower people of color to lead more global lives
