Since serving as NCAT SGA President 2008-2009, Marcus Bass has spent the past decade organizing issue based campaigns and leading citizens to harness their own power to create change. A native of Eastern NC, while at A&T Marcus led several grassroots efforts including Greensboro’s largest student march between Bennett College, UNC-G, Greensboro College and North Carolina A&T, the 2007 Refund Check Rebellion, and serving on the Chancellor Search Committee that selected Chancellor Harold Martin.

After graduation Marcus served as Campus Outreach Coordinator for Common Cause North Carolina working with HBCUs on ways to engage college students in civic participation. Marcus serves on various state boards including the NC A&T Young Alumni Council. He has been featured on BET, The New York Times, ABC Nightline news and is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post. Marcus was a 2009 initiate into the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc and is a former member of the award-winning North Carolina A&T Fellowship Gospel Choir. He is currently the Executive Director of Advanced Carolina.
